2) I finally got my wish granted when I got into grade ten;
But at the start, it seemed that I was in the lions den.
I always sang sharp or flat, the pitch was never right.
If I wanted to stay in chorus, I knew I'd have to fight.
3) As time moved on, I observed that my progress had improved;
And soon I found that I was fitting right into the groove.
Years end came, and all had noted my accomplishments;
So much so, that I was voted the most improved chorus student.
4) My junior year began, and I knew that I was not to wait,
for it'd be here in just 4 months, the Florida Chorus All-State.
District A was sight reading, hurdle number one.
I cleared that hurdle barely, but my job still wasn't done.
5) Hurdle two was District B, this one was the last.
The practicing for me had worked...the music tests I passed!!
I now had made the All-State Chorus, and had reached my goal.
We now reviewed all of the music for the evenings show.
6) The evening show went perfectly, with no sense of alarm;
For the Good Lord got me through this, and kept me from all harm.
Chorus and All-State worked for me...I know, because I tried.
And I shall not forget these things until the day I die.
