2) Though I went to Sunday School, as well as there, to church.
And spiritually, I thought I wasn't living in the lurch.
I was going through the motions, for others to see.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
3) In a high school English class, a poetry unit, done.
The first poem that I'd compose, was on Christ, God's Son.
Entitled ''A Friend For Life''; from John Fifteen, Thirteen.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
4) ''I'll try anything just once'', including poetry.
Most, especially the boys, think that it's sissy.
Just two lines on the first try; what I couldn't see.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
5) I could hear the Devil say, with deceit, he lied.
''You can not there write a poem''; so I set it aside.
Two weeks later, twenty lines, then came clear to me.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
6) Then in choir, heard the hymn, ''The Old Rugged Cross''.
Sung by a fellow tenor there; and realized I was lost.
It was The Holy Spirit, who, my heart pricked, lovingly.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
7) In choir, could not hit a tone, in a bucket, there.
But, other singers, did help me, with their work and care.
Sight reading and perfect pitch, The Lord gave to me.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
8) Though in church for many years, back there in my youth.
But, convicted of my sin, I finally saw the Truth.
I was never really saved; but finally did see.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
9) So, after move from Florida, up to Little Rock.
My father's job, it brought us here; barrel, lock, and stock.
I asked Christ to save my soul, for eternity.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
10) Through the years, my life has been, full of ups and downs.
But graciously, God gave me poems, and musical sounds.
Some set to music, mini-concerts, all for His Glory.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
11) King David danced with all his might, there before The Lord.
He knew God's Word was sharper than any two edged sword.
Through a square dance belt buckle, the title came to be.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
12) ''Soar With Jesus'', from Isaiah, Forty, Thirty-One.
Those who wait upon The Lord, Jesus Christ, God's Son.
Strength renewed, they don't lose heart; and there, not weary.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
13) A few tribute and secular, poems contained therein.
Most Gospel, with invitation, to repent of sin.
Witness there to all the lost; to saved, a ministry.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
14) Many taken from God's Word, in Scripture Verses, there.
You can't do better for a source; with the Gospel, shared.
My prayer is that the unsaved souls; their need for Christ, they'll see.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
15) Gold and silver, precious stones, in a future crown.
But at Christ's Feet, I eagerly, will lay all these down.
For the glory, praise, and worship; only He's worthy.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
16) For there where your treasure is, there resides your heart.
When I repented of my sin, Christ gave a brand new start.
What a talent and a gift; to write and share poetry.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
17) Though still with sin nature here, in my life is seen.
Through the Blood Of Christ, my sins; washed away, I'm clean.
Considered righteous as Christ is, for all eternity.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
18) Whether at the rapture there, or upon my death.
Heaven my eternal home, upon my last breath.
When I asked Christ to save me there; prayed with sincerity.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
19) You can't take it with you, but can send it on ahead.
For on The Cross of Calvary; Love, written there, in Red.
My Testimony, in these poems, that God gave to me.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
20) Not for my own glory there, that is Christ's alone.
His Precious Blood shed on The Cross, for sins to atone.
''Thank You'', words inadequate, of what Christ did for me.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
21) Everyone who has asked Christ, there to save their soul.
For Him to be their Saviour, Lord; He has all control.
All the saved do hold this truth, for all eternity.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
22) Whether deed there small or great, in service to The Lord.
At the Bema Judgment Seat, there will be reward.
No matter the gift one may have, there in ministry.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
23) And, upon that glorious day, when I shall see His Face.
Join the saved, in praise of Him, for God's Amazing Grace.
A Hug, A Handshake, and a Cry, from Christ; I want to be.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
24) Salvation's Free Gift, I could never, on my own, obtain.
''Worthy Is The Lord Of Hosts; The Lamb Who Was Slain''.
In Heaven, serving Him forever, for eternity.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
25) It's appointed all to die, then judgment there for all.
All mankind will face The Lord, in Heaven's Judgment Hall.
Life a vapor, when compared there, to eternity.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
26) At the moment of your death, two places there exist.
If you choose to reject Christ, Heaven, you will miss.
In Hell, it's torment, torture, pain, unending agony.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
27) Christ knows your deeds, your thoughts, and words; and hairs upon your head.
If you die without The Lord, and spiritually dead;
Christ will be your worst nightmare; when His Face, you see.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
28) Not going through the motions there, but truly sincere.
Christ sticks closer than a brother; what a Friend, so dear.
What you do with Christ, sets your eternal destiny.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
29) It's my prayer, you'll join me there, one day around Christ's Throne.
But, if you die without The Lord, you will be alone.
First in Hell, then Lake Of Fire, for eternity.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
30) Into Heaven, Jesus Christ, He is The Only Way.
At the moment of your death; who will, your sin debt, pay??
You will stand before The Lord; that meeting, you can't flee.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
31) Saved by grace through faith in Christ, and not of works to boast.
If you do reject The Lord, you will regret it, most.
After death, you cannot change, eternal destiny.
Only what is done for Christ, I can take with me.
32) I pray that you will come to Christ; from sin, you will repent.
For the One Thing God requires: Believe On Christ, He Sent.
Your decision will be honored; what will your choice be??
